Pakistan Test-Fires Extended-Range Fatah-IV Cruise Missile, Says ISPR
Pakistan has successfully test-launched an extended-range version of its indigenously developed Fatah-IV ground-launched cruise missile, the military's media wing announced on Tuesday.
In a statement, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the weapon system carries advanced avionics and modern navigational aids, and is capable of engaging targets at extended ranges with high precision and lethality. The test also validated additional technical parameters of several sub-systems, which ISPR said were incorporated to improve accuracy and survivability.
The statement did not give the missile's range or the location of the launch.
Senior officials witness test
According to ISPR, senior officers of the Pakistan Army, along with scientists and engineers from the developing agency, witnessed the launch.
The military's statement said President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, who serves as Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, praised the test, as did the heads of all the armed services. They also appreciated the technical skill, dedication and commitment of those who contributed to the project, ISPR said.
Interior minister congratulates nation
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also welcomed the development in a statement issued by his ministry. He described the successful test of the extended version as an important advancement in the defence sector. Naqvi congratulated the nation, along with the scientists and engineers involved, and appreciated their efforts.
Recent missile tests
The launch follows a series of missile tests by Pakistan's armed forces over the past year.
In May, the Army Rocket Force Command carried out a successful test fire of the Fatah-IV ground-launched cruise missile. A month earlier, the same command conducted a training launch of the Fateh-II missile system, and the Pakistan Navy fired a locally developed anti-ship ballistic missile to engage targets at an extended range.
In September 2025, the Pakistan Army also conducted a training launch of the Fatah-IV cruise missile at a range of 750 kilometres.
