GTA 6 Still on Track for November 19 Release as Rockstar Ramps Up Pre-Launch Campaign

Grand Theft Auto VI remains scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, just over five weeks from now, with no further delay announced. Rockstar Games' long-awaited title is due on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and a PC version has not been officially announced.

Two delays so far

Rockstar first targeted a fall 2025 release before moving the game to May 26, 2026. On November 6, 2025, the studio announced a second delay to November 19, 2026. In its statement, Rockstar apologised for extending an already long wait and said the extra months would allow it to finish the game with the polish players expect.

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick told IGN at the time that he was highly confident in the new date. He had expressed similar confidence before the earlier delay.

Date reaffirmed through 2026

Take-Two confirmed in May that the November 19 date still stood and that marketing would begin over the summer. The company again referred to the November 19 launch in its fiscal first-quarter results on August 7.

Rockstar followed with a video titled "GTA VI: An Extended Look" on August 27, which restated the release date. A "Vice City Collection" of merchandise was announced on September 24, with items scheduled to arrive on November 19. As of October 1, tracking sites reported that no new delay had been announced.

What is known about the game

The game takes place in the fictional state of Leonida, which includes Vice City and its surrounding areas. Rockstar describes it as the biggest and most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series so far.

The November launch falls in the holiday shopping season. Other releases around that period include Crymelight on November 5 and Gothic 3 Classic on November 24.
